On Matter, Materialism and Money: A Positive Perspective

The Body is to life on Earth what Money is to having a life in the world. While one does exist as a spiritual being independent of human/physical existence, it is the material vehicle/vessel that allows for consciousness, abundance, intelligence and love to manifest in the Physical World. The Body is my seed of physical aliveness and Money is the seed of material abundance. All in this realm of matter and form is subject to birth and death, though the innate consciousness, abundance, intelligence and love exists eternally as my own innermost Being, birthless and deathless.

Remembering that with just 10% of my conscious attention given each day to inner being, meditation, detachment and letting go, 90% of my waking life is spent focused on the here and now, the physical reality, body, surroundings and worldly tasks/goals. Because it is what is happening now, and only now, it demands full attention at the foreground though the subconscious background is rooted in deep Faith and a crystal clear Awareness of Eternal Being. Because this precious human life which has been born, and has grown to such maturity, is subject to death and dissolution when the prana eventually departs from the physical food body (outer shell), it is most vital to give our full being whole-heartedly to this life, to this present moment reality, the illusion and play of existence (the Universe as Nature, Nurture & Culture) that is inseparable from the Supreme Reality that some of us call God or Spirit.

Personal Experience: The past two days I contemplated and acted out of the awareness that physical health and fitness is key to feeling good and general well being, helping me to live more fully and contentedly in the present moment. Today I contemplate the value of acquiring money and knowledge/skills as the sole means for manifesting what I wish to create, produce and manifest in this life. Inner Consciousness needs the vehicle of the outer Body, inner Abundance requires the medium of external Wealth, and inner Intelligence must have Information and outside Knowledge to create something beautiful, meaningful, purposeful, like the building of a small organic farm that is grounded in sustainability and located in a positive high vibration area.

I have developed an innate understanding of the deeper spiritual realm where my Soul dwelleth, and what my intentions and aspirations are for Spiritual Growth. Right now, this very moment, it has become most immediately urgent and vital that I apply conscious Active Intelligence coupled with total Commitment/Concentration to the present day Tasks At Hand, which includes both the overall Dream/Vision and the Concrete Steps that must be taken to manifest it. This is why I must make friends with money and material concerns and embrace the challenge fully with goals of total self sufficiency and abundant joyful living in mind.

Unconditioned Self in Action

Performing actions is a way to move ever closer to my true and highest state of consciousness and being. Everything from doing yoga to cleaning the house to performing duties at work. All are ways of not only progressing materially and physically but also growing spiritually.

It is the act of Creation which is not permanent Absolute Reality but momentary and relative to here now experience on Earth... to the self as individual soul or jiva, which is not separate from Atman/Self and the True Reality, but is the duality principle of Maya (Illusory Existence of the Person, the World & My God).

Here on Earth: the mind and body, psyche and soma, inner and outer, at their highest functioning are in perfect unity and harmony, or Satva. This is the Divine Will made manifest in human creation through individual human beings.

This is what one could call "spiritual life" from the individual's perspective, though Spirit is ultimately beyond the individual and creation and at the Source of both. Here it is essential that one must come from an inward place, a meditative mindful center of awareness. The Witness, He who awakens to unity with Truth or Self.

Emptiness & Consciousness

Consciousness is low entropy attention to the present moment or matter at hand. Within it lies the capacity for negation of all contents of consciousness, including the thought "I must do this, that and the other thing". It is the power to focus attention one pointedly on the most immediate task at hand, inwardly or outwardly, then keeping a steady flow from one moment/action/experience to the next.

The power of roman numeral X and #10 is the primal Zero-One factors focused upon the reality of ones own creation (Numbers One & Two and all others following) while simultaneously negating (via Zero) all resistant thoughts, feelings and outer obstacles such as laziness/lethargy/heaviness or dark cloudy confusion. Zero returns the ego to emptiness or pure essence, which in daily life similar to going to sleep or hitting 'reset' and starting a new game or task.

It is Emptiness that creates form(s) and microcosmically takes the original form of "I", the individual person... the most essential singular vessel for divine universal energy. To receive the Universal one must exhale the breath completely, thus be empty of breath, and then be ready to inhale so that the divine power or Prana is embodied, outwardly expressed and manifested. Exhalation induces calm relaxation, slowing down and finding that even steady pace. So the outward activity level is even and constant.

The reward is far greater for he/she who restrains and focuses energy without haste or waste. To rush through life is to scatter energy, lose focus and give up too quickly. Patience is essential, as in the words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow "learn to labor and to wait". This is why we take time out of each day to sit still and meditate
into an ever deeper silence.

A Life Beyond Words

Do people really believe in the superstitious notion that your words create your experience of life? Only at the most superficial material levels I would say you could train your conscious brain to bring positive autosuggestion to the subconscious, to satisfy small interests and desires. On deeper levels however it is feelings and imagination that bring all thought forms into being, which then become outward pronouncements, habits and creative manifestations. Only in transcending the illusion of identification with thinking mind does one begin to have mastery over it's negative conditioning and thus over one's individual creation.

This is what I think the Buddha meant when saying that "one is the sum total of all that one has thought", yet from the perspective that the thinking verbalizing self is not the True Reality. When the deeper mind like a still lake clearly reflects the language of the Heart, then only are the extrovert capacities of the individual endowed with right minded thoughts, ideas and actions... the poetic and artistic expression that includes yet transcends the words and images that articulate it.

One can speak very positive words and yet feel and act totally different behind the scenes. A winning exterior does NOT ensure a happy and prosperous life. The harder and more compulsively you try "thinking the right thoughts" the more resistance is aroused from a repressed shadow part of the mind.

For all the above reasons, I believe that our use of words and language has but a superficial power and significance. One must discontinue the habit of giving them more importance than they are worth.
